Knysna Racing
Kayaks & Paddles was formed in 1991. Initially the production was just paddles, especially the then
new “wing” types, but soon branched into kayaks, surfskis,
knee boards and canoes.
Currently we have a large stable of South African craft for all canoeing disciplines and leisure. Our latest releases
are the Matrix (K1) and Clone(K2), new generation parallel-sided kayaks. Both are proving themselves at races.
All our craft can be built in a variety of lay-ups, from standard to vacuum molded carbon / kevlar.
Hubby Sandberg has been with the company from the beginning. His 30 years of experience in river and sprint
paddling has equipped him with the knowledge and feel for kayak
and canoe design. His design skills go back as far
as 1983 when he designed the first successful South African river kayak, the Tiger.
Albert Wasserman, who’s love for the sport encouraged him to leave his career in law to join us in 2001, is now
the factory manager. Over the years we have boasted many kayak wins, in both sprint and marathon river
racing Knysna Racing Kayaks & Paddles will be constantly improving, and always at the forefront of design technology.
